NFA: Making Interdisciplinary Connections (Lecture)

  • Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center 900 East Market Street San Antonio, TX, 78205 United States (map)

This event will be part of the National Flute Association Convention in San Antonio, TX.

Presented by: EQ members Allison Asthana, Chelsea Tanner, and Kari Boyer

In this lecture-presentation, members from Emissary Quartet will shed light on steps you can take to establish the connections you need to plan and execute the interdisciplinary collaborations you’ve always dreamed of! It may seem daunting and vulnerable to do things such as cold emailing, following up, proposing financial and logistical details, and selling yourself as a collaborative artist, but it doesn’t have to be. You will be given clear and concise workflow recommendations, real-life examples of interdisciplinary collaborations, and tips for how to handle potential difficult situations - all to help you turn your amazing ideas into reality. Music is an artform that is inherently well-paired to many other disciplines, and whether it is visual art, dance, film, or more, there are many opportunities for flutists past the traditional classical performance hall. Don’t wait to be asked, be the one to ask and create amazing opportunities for other artists, and offer audiences the innovative and immersive experiences they crave!
